ASM 3009. Surveying and Geomatics. 

(4 cr)

I.        Survey principles/theory.  Measurements of distances, corrections to measurements, statistical methods/applications.  Use of optical/electronic levels of theodolites, electronic distance measurement (EDM), and total stations.  Introduction to angle measurement.  Exercise in land measurement, differential leveling, profiles/cross-sections, and topographic surveys.

II.      Measuring angles/directions with transits, theodolites, and total stations.  Traversing, area computation, land surveys, control surveys, and State Plane coordinate systems.  Global Positioning Sytem (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  Photogrammetry/mapping.  Construction surveys, volumes, horizontal/vertical curves.
